October 2012 - Santa Fe NMOGA

Every year, around this time, the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association (NMOGA) gets together a bunch of people in Santa Fe for a few days of networking, dinners, awards ceremonies and conferences.  Andrew's company have sent him the last two years.

What this means for me:  I get to spend an all-expense-paid weekend in gorgeous Santa Fe, staying in a nice hotel, dressing up for dinner in nice restaurants, drinking expensive wines, attending a fashion show, and frequenting the hotel spa.  I also got a free lanyard.  Sold.

From down below, the mountains look painted with yellow.  As you drive up 475, you begin to see the bright Aspen trees that have grown where forest fire has taken down the firs.

Our rental car, a Ford Explorer, was a comfortable ride.
I'm in the market for a new car so this is now a contender.

Kakawa Chocolate House, cafe/shop selling different flavors of hot chocolate, such as Pre-Columbian Mesoamerican Mayan Aztec, as well as contemporary mixes such as Havana Rum and Chocolate Chai.  It's like drinking melted chocolate. Highly recommend.

We took an afternoon trip to Tent Rocks, which are rock formations shaped like... you guessed it.
